Well, there you have it. The story is now finished.
Thank you for reading it, and I hope you all enjoyed it, even if you didn’t have any comments to make.
As I mentioned, the votes on topwebfiction.com expire after a couple of weeks. Everyone has lost interest, so six votes would get Tamao into the top ten. Click on this link to vote now.
The story might be finishing soon, but people can still read it, even when it has.
Thanks!
The epilogue is now finished, and will take you to the end of the year in four additional episodes. You’ll get two installments on the 28th, 29th, and 30th, because there isn’t a full week there. The whole story is now just short of 240,000 words, which is about the same as a fat Harry Potter.
The main plot finishes on Sunday, so the pace and tension will drop substantially, but I hope the epilogue makes the ending a bit more complete than it would have been.
There’s another place where you can vote for Tamao now, topwebfiction.com. Click on this link to vote now. No need for a log-in, but there is a ReCaptcha anti-bot thing. Apparently, votes only last for seven days, which makes sense given the ephemerality of web fiction, so I’ll probably have to ask again, if it produces any visits.
In case you were wondering, the torii is empty because I’m writing an extra four episodes to bring the story to a nicer stopping point. You got some more story a bit early. There’s still space for a sequel, but if you want that much more, the torii needs to fill up again.
Thanks for all the donations so far, and I hope you like the extra bit of story.

Do we ever learn what happens with them? Or is it left to our imagination what happens with Akiko and Akira? Does Akiko become a priest? I’m just so curious
Btw, I absolutely loved your story. I love how real Akiko is in reacting to things, and how can you not like Kazumi haha.
Thanks for writing the story, and the epilogue. And for sharing it with us. I’ll keep voting every day to increase the chance that more people will find their way here, and perhaps they could be persuaded to chip in to see a sequel.
I find myself not wondering what will happen, because everything sure seems to be going quite well right now. And given that Tamao seemed to survive for such a long time without Akiko, it doesn’t look like there should be any imminent dangers. So I find myself wondering what direction the story might take in order to change, while still stay the same.
I suppose that battles against kegare could be exchanged for (even) more intricacies of Shinto, as Akiko studies further. In a very far away end, Akiko might even write a book on the subject of understanding the kami. Perhaps disguise it as fiction, to avoid being viewed as crazy by all those who don’t believe. She could call the book “Tamao”. Oooh, now the serpent is eating its own tail!
Loved it! Thank you, David.
